Extracted from brown seaweed, sodium alginate is a high viscosity, low solids thickener for all dyes. Primarily used for cotton but is suitable for silk and synthetics when fine line definition is not required.
In addition to its textile application, sodium alginate is used as a stabilizer for ice cream, yogurt, cream, and cheese. It acts as a thickener and emulsifier for salad, pudding, jam, tomato juice, and canned products. It is a hydration agent for noodles, bread, cool and frozen products.
