Small and Pin Loom Yarns
Yarn for smaller and pin looms completely depends on what you’re planning to weave and how close the pins are on your loom. However, there are a few basic guidelines for these types of looms. It’s best to use a yarn that has some elasticity to it to minimize shrinkage. These types of yarns would fall under the wool and other animal fiber category. While you can use cotton or linen, you have to be aware of shrinking once it’s off the loom. Fiber blends tend to be better suited for small and pin loom weaving for this reason. We have a few recommendations for yarns to use with your pin loom below:
- Omega Sinfonia - This is a 100% Mercerized Cotton, 6 ply yarn. It comes in balls of 218 yards. This is a sport weight yarn so it's a perfect in between size, especially for pin looms!
- Sandnes Garn Sunday – 100% merino wool has wonderful structure while still maintaining some elasticity! This is a 4 ply fingering weight yarn that would work beautifully on a pin loom.
