Made from seaweed and cellulose, this unique fiber is extremely soft and supple. The seaweed (actually a brown algae, Ascophyllum nodossum) is harvested from Icelandic Fjords using specially designed equipment that does not cause any permanent damage and only removes that part of the seaweed that is able to regenerate.
The process of turning the seaweed into fiber is a closed loop with no chemicals released or waste generated. The fiber is produced exclusively from sustainable raw materials (wood and seaweed) using methods that save both energy and resources. The fiber is carbon neutral and completely biodegradable.
Since the resources are renewable and the production method is energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, this fabric is an eco-friendly one. It blends well with other types of fibers, and due to its softness and breathable characteristics is ideal for next to the skin applications.
