One of the longest of the bast fibers, Giant Himalayan Stinging Nettle is harvested from the wild mountain forests of Nepal. A sustainable plant that grows to 18 feet in height, Girardinia Diversifolia requires no pesticides or deforestation and regenerates itself every year after the harvest. In addition, the plant has an extensive root system that helps to prevent soil erosion. As an added bonus, the annual harvest brings much needed economic development to the local Nepalese villages.
A great spinning fiber that is environmentally sound and brings economic empowerment to a region in need. What's not to like?
