A very fine grade, high quality Hand Combed Flax that is uncut and at least 30" long. This is a twisted skein preparation, often used for historical re-enactments. Needs to be un-coiled before spinning. Nice and fine.
Strick is a bundle of fiber ready to be converted into sliver.
Flax is one of the world’s oldest fibers with fabrics dating to 10,000BC found in Turkey that are made from linen (spun flax). A bast fiber, flax is similar to hemp, jute, ramie and stinging nettle. Historically, bast fibers have been used to make yarn, rope, burlap, paper and geotextile matting. Bast fibers have even been used to weave shoes in prehistoric times and are still made in select forest communities of Northeastern Europe.
