Brushtail Possum Fiber
This is the fur of the Brushtail Possum from New Zealand. It is one of the softest and warmest natural fibers and difficult to find in raw, un-blended form. The hair of the possum is hollow with the tips having a micron count of 1-2, which makes cashmere sound coarse!! When spun it creates a halo effect similar to angora rabbit, but without the poke or pilling of angora.
* Hand carders or drum carders designed for fine fibers work best.
* It can be washed before blending or after spinning when you full your yarn.
We recommend blending it at anywhere from a 5-40% ratio with other fibers. A very light fiber so there is more actual fiber per oz than similar exotic fibers. If you blend it at 30%, 1 oz turns into 3!
This is unwashed fiber. It can be washed before blending or after spinning when you full your yarn.
