Scarf Weaving Pattern - Cascade Heritage Wave

Scarf Weaving Pattern - Cascade Heritage Wave

Elizabeth & Amy

Note: Heritage Wave has since been discontinued. Any fingering weight sock yarn will work with this project. To find yarns of similar fiber content click here

Cascade Heritage Wave has been a staple around here for weaving and knitting which makes it a perfect yarn for this Stash Dash rigid heddle weaving pattern. This yarn is a super-soft yet durable yarn that is machine washable and dryable because of its blend of superwash merino wool and nylon! It’s made with 75% Superwash Merino and 25% nylon and comes in twenty colors.

Using Heritage Wave as the warp creates a stunning subtle striping effect where the colors transition seamlessly. When you weave it with Jaggerspun Zephyr, the silk in the yarn adds a very nice silky sheen to the piece.

Weave Structure

Plain weave

Warp

We created a 100” long warp with 144 ends using Cascade Heritage Wave

Finishing

We left about 6” of warp unwoven on both ends to create fringe. Our fringe was made by twisting bundles of 2 working ends together in each clip of our fringe twister, then letting them twist together to create twisted bundles of 4 total working ends. If you’ve never used a tool to twist fringe, check out this helpful video:

Colorway Suggestions

We determined which Jaggerspun Zephyr the Cascade Heritage Wave would work with to take the guesswork out. Simply identify the Heritage Wave color you’re wanting then look across to see the Jaggerspun Zephyr suggestion!

Note: Some Heritage Wave colors have two Jaggerspun suggestions. You only need to choose one Jaggerspun color.

Pro Tip: There is enough yardage in one skein of Jaggerspun Zephyr to make two different scarves. You could get one color of Jaggerspun and two different colors of Heritage Wave.

For example: Elderberry in Jaggerspun Zephyr works with Heritage Wave colors 504 and 516.

Happy weaving!
