Hashtag Scarf Weaving Pattern
New yarn arriving tends to beg the question, "What should we do with this?", but that question doesn't remain unanswered for long. Not long after Laneras Barefoot made its arrival to our shop, Amy took to weaving this scarf using this yarn alongside Fyberspates Scrumptious which resulted in a silky smooth weft floats that are reminiscent of a # sign.
Equipment Needed
- Multi-shaft Floor or Table Loom with at least 6 shafts
- 12 dent stainless steel reed
- Boat shuttle & bobbin
- Fringe twister
Note for Rigid Heddle: This scarf is equally beautiful woven without the floats and done as plain weave throughout! Pretty much all the details are the same except:
- You will need a 12 dent rigid heddle and a loom with at least 10" weaving width
- Warp length - You can create a 100" direct warp according to the warp order and then use Fyberspates as weft.
Maintain 12 ppi and weave to 80", finish with 6" of fringe and voila!

Multi-Shaft Draft
Note: The alternating colors within the draft are to denote the variegated nature of the Laneras Barefoot yarn. Feel free to disregard this and substitute whatever colors you would like.
Weft
Weave Fyberspates Scrumptious 4-Ply - Moss (Whatever is left over from what was used in the warp) according to the treadling sequence until your scarf reaches ~80" off tension.
(If weaving plain weave on rigid heddle, weave Fyberspates Scrumptious 4-Ply - Moss until your scarf reaches ~80" off tension)
Note: Make sure the beat is consistent in the plain weave area in between the # design, since it is very easy to over beat the pattern floats. This area will appear loose in the design area, but will fill in once washed and off the loom
Finishing
- Remove the scarf from the loom, leaving about 6" of unwoven warp on either side.
- Our fringe was made by twisting bundles of 2 working ends together in each clip of our fringe twister, then letting them twist together to create twisted bundles of 4 total working ends. If you’ve never used a tool to twist fringe, check out this helpful video:
