These pewter whorls are based on 13th to 15th century lead spindle whorls found in English museums and private collections. They weigh approximately 24 grams (less than 1 oz.). and diameter is 1". Safely crafted with pewter, these spindles are manufactured in much the same way they were hundreds of years ago.
The whorls are available with a 9" hand-finished (stained, oiled and waxed) hardwood shaft with a carved notch on top, similar to what would have been used in the Middle Ages.
