This yarn is 100% Highlander sheep's wool handspun in Chile by Casa Ursulina . The Highlander breed of sheep is native to New Zealand but has been introduced in Chile and produces a warm, soft yarn. This yarn is a two-ply yarn and is spun on a spinning wheel. Please note that this yarn is hand dyed in small batches so some color variation does exist and is a natural result of this process.
This is the yarn in the KidKnits Chilean Hat Kits.
Casa Ursulina was founded in the mid 1990’s when Sister Mimi Ballard and seven local Chilean women shared a vision of a common place where women could come together to work, learn, and support each other.
Today, more than 200 women visit the center to learn crafts and to participate in the Casa Ursulina community.
