Designed by two Sami band weavers in Sweden, Stoorstalka products capture the spirit of the Sami weaving style and combine them with modern materials. Sami weaving has historically produced bands for use as belts, on backpacks and as clothing accessories. The Sami (Saami) are indigenous inhabitants of the northern regions of modern day Norway, Finland, Sweden and the Kola Peninsula of Russia.

"I have ordered these kits in the past but couldn’t resist getting this again - I just liked the colors. Very easy to set up, you just need a sturdy item like a chair or a door handle to tie onto. The shuttle works really nicely and the heddle seems very durable as well. Just one hint- once you get about 6 inches or so along, make sure you compare your weaving width with the area of your completed weaving that you find is the width you desire- it is very easy to make the mistake of gradually increasing your width by mistake. Keep an eye on it every inch or so after that and you should do just fine."

"I finished my Sami band--it wasn't as easy as it looked, but I enjoyed it and I'm putting a new warp on the heddle. The kit does have all the tools you need to finish the pre-warped band, and they are good quality. I'm planning to order a Sunna pattern heddle and the unique fine Swedish yarn to continue this engaging traditional weaving hobby."
