Weaving the Navajo Way - review

"Great book, easy to follow text and illustrations. . It clarified several processes and questions I had which resulted from other books. . The spiral binding makes it easy to lay flat for frequent text-to-project viewing versus keeping a few bricks on hand. ."

This book has been tremendously

"This book has been tremendously helpful in learning to weave Navajo style patterns as well as in how to prepare the loom. This book along with How to Weave a Navajo Rug and Other Lessons from Spider Woman have been crucial to my understanding of weaving in the Navajo tradition."

Good Resource For Learning

"I just received this book and after glancing through it I feel that this will be a helpful guide to learning Navajo weaving techniques. The book is spiral bound, so will be easy to leave open while working. It's in black and white and uses a combination of photos and drawings to illustrate techniques and steps on the process. There's historical information, an analysis of different patterns/styles, basic ""how to"" information for beginners with a ""what you'll need"" list, a step-by-step guide to getting started, advanced techniques and lots of different patterns. There's even instructions on how to do a round rug. The books finishes with a variety of appendices including ""Using String Heddles on a Miniature Loom,"" ""How to Build a Navajo Loom"" and other useful information including a glossary of terms. I can't wait to get started!"
