Gehpa by STOORSTÅLKA is a traditional shaped Sámi shuttle in a modern material. A good gehpa should be made in reindeer horn, or as this product, in POM - a super durable, yet flexible and smooth material.
When picking pattern threads, the bended shape makes it super easy to pick the right threads. It's all about ergonomics. Band weaving is tough work, and we want you to take care of yourself and spare your body. Even if you are just weaving straight this shuttle will give you the right angle, and you will spare your shoulders and back. Try it, and you won't use anything else.

Designed by two Sami band weavers in Sweden, Stoorstalka products capture the spirit of the Sami weaving style and combine them with modern materials. Sami weaving has historically produced bands for use as belts, on backpacks and as clothing accessories. The Sami (Saami) are indigenous inhabitants of the northern regions of modern day Norway, Finland, Sweden and the Kola Peninsula of Russia.

Very Versatile--Stoorstalka Gehpa Shuttle
"I saw this shuttle, and decided to try it. . . and wound up loving it! Once I got used to manipulating it, it turned out to be a great piece of weaving equipment. I've used it for band weaving (backstrap style and on my inkle loom), and supplemental pattern weft inlay (on both my rigid heddle and multi-shaft looms). I'm thinking of getting a couple more of these just to have around!!"
