Manx Loaghtan is a rare breed of sheep that is better known for meat than fiber. It is considered to be a medium wool as it isn’t very soft or very scratchy. The fiber is highly versatile as it can be easily spun woolen or worsted. It makes a very durable yarn with some shine when spun worsted. It is great for socks and other garments that are subjected to wear. Traditional used for tartans and tailored suits.

"This is a wonderful fiber. I spun a three ply that spun up to worsted weight and the resulting yarn had the most lovely bounce and spring to it when knitting. The definition was soft and warm. I used an English long draw method to spin the singles and was able to achieve over 600 yards of 3 ply from this fiber."
"This fiber is initially commercially carded and diz'd into roving. Though it will drop your spindle to the floor if your not careful using rolags and worsted spinning. . . . it is a wonderfully fine yarn. This fiber is suited for 0-Lace to 1-Fingering yarn due to the stability of the fibers as its spun in either direction. I have tried both woolen and worsted spinning. Woolen is best for weaving yarn to a fabric and Worsted makes a fluffy-ish laceweight yarn best for the snuggle sweaters and cozy socks. I made mine into a knit cowl neck dickie for blistery winter days. I never notice the wind blowing with this on."
"Haven't started spinning this yet, but will let you know. 5 Stars for service, quality and general great petting of fleece."
