Lojan Travel Buddy Spinning Wheel

The Lojan Buddy is the newest spinning wheel from the drawing board of Jan Louët.

This portable and versatile wheel can spin thin yarn to art yarn and beyond without the need to change bobbins or flyers.

This travel version folds up and comes complete with it's own specially designed backpack.

Dutch tension is Irish tension improved by Jan Louët: the spinning wheel is bobbin-led, but the aerodynamic design of the flyer allows you to spin with very little pull on the yarn. As a result, Dutch tension is great for spinning both thin and thick yarns.

Lojan BV was founded in 2023 by Jan Louët and his daughter, Loes van Aken.

Nice wheel!

"My wheel must have had a rough crossing because one bearing was broken and I messed up another putting it together, but Lojan replaced them both, no charge. The wheel spins beautifully. It does have a good pull, but I can still spin fine yarn. It doesn’t take long to take apart and set up again and the backpack seems well made. I’d definitely recommend the Travel Buddy."

One became two.

"I was an absolute beginner when I bought this, and I now have 2 Lojan wheels. Like other reviewers said, the Dutch tension was tricky to find the sweet spot, but when you do, it can spin anything. Comes unassembled and unfinished; I used beeswax blend. It looks beautiful. I bought this for the design features, and appreciate being able to draft however I want from any direction. It is also as tall as the other Lojan wheels and feels so similar, you probably won’t notice a difference. I am so glad I have these wheels and was able to learn to spin on them."

Great for spinning on the go

"This is a great wheel if you need something lightweight and packable. The backpack has ample room for your wheel and a generous amount of fiber. The assembly did take a little bit of time but was not hard. Did take a little while to get used to the tension but this wheel has worked well for fine and bulky yarns."

Very portable!

"I have enjoyed spinning on this wheel. It comes ina surprisingly small box. It took a few hours to assemble. The instructions have illustrations which are helpful. The wheel folds up easily and everything included fits in the backpack, with space for fiber. There is a learning curve if, like me, you have little to no experience with Irish or bobbin led tension. The modified “Dutch” version of the tensioning system will take some practice to find the “just enough” tension. Start with a good beginner fiber when making friends with the wheel. This may not be a good first wheel, but is just right for a confident spinner who is on the go. Have wheel, can easily travel."
