The newest of the Kromski collection. Yes, a thoroughly modern wheel in every aspect but the concept and design are obviously Kromski. What is not obvious is a new single drive flyer design. The whorl is "changeable" for different speeds; to change the bobbins (all Kromski bobbins fit the Fantasia), the front of the flyer simply pulls off - no drive band to deal with in this adaptation of the original Kromski Quick Change Flyer. Very fast bobbin change. The wooden spinning wheel and the flyer spin on sealed bearings for an exceptionally soft feel.

Easy to assemble and easy-ish

"Easy to assemble and easy-ish to use. Feels like a good wheel to learn on. I am still getting used to the scotch tension. I like the double treadle over a single treadle wheel I first learned on. Less dead space with a double treadle."

Love it! Having so much

"Love it! Having so much fun spinning. It was a little bit fiddly to get set up, but not too difficult (just take your time and go step by step). I got the fast and extra fast whorls as well, and I actually haven’t used the standard one at all because I prefer thinner yarns."

The fantasia is easy to

"The fantasia is easy to use for a beginner! I love that lace to bulky weight can be spun on the fantasia. I think it is a wonderful spinning wheel"

Love the wheel! It arrived

"Love the wheel! It arrived on time (before Christmas!), so I was able to assemble it and start using right away. The wheel is perfectly balanced, and easy to use. (Only concern---I wish the pedals folded up so it was easier to carry). But overall, I'm quite pleased with the wheel."

Pretty nice wheel

"I got my unfinished wheel and started working on it right away. I spray painted the drive wheel, I toasted the big wooden areas with a blow torch and then I put in watered down latex paint and wiped it off for a nice “stained” effect. Then I stained the little wood pieces, that I didn’t want to go up in flame, as well as the bobbins and flyer. I did crackle paint on the drive wheel and then sanded down the real wood and restained it to match the rest of my dark walnut stain. Then I did polyeurethane and spray gloss on it all (leaving the bobbins and the whorl on the light side of finishing sprays). It turned out good, and when I had a missing Oiler and missing big Allen wrench, the company got on it right away so I could finish putting it together. It’s my first wheel, but since I started with a drop spindle, it almost seems like this is going too well for me. I’m definitely glad I got a new wheel, I didn’t know I was supposed to oil them, and it was helpful with all the new parts. The connectors between the foot pedals and the drive wheel were a little hard to get put in, but my husband shaved the rubber/plastic a bit (they made a notch so you had to make it level with that notch, but the notch had some rubber/plastic that stuck out a tiny bit which prevented us from getting it perfect without shaving it a bit). Very easy to put together if you don’t put a lot of layers of polyeurethane on. In some areas it was a little rough and needed some sanding (where the brand is was a little rough, and there was a sliver of wood that was coming off, but not a problem since I toasted it a bit). Overall a good wheel. It is very open to how you want to finish it."

Wonderful

"As someone who's been spinning for a year but never laid a finger on a wheel until now, I have to say I'm surprised at the simplicity of the function on this guy. It spins intuitively, the setup for the flyer and the bobbin and the whorl is easy to sort out and adjust, and so is the tension. It was easy to put together (assuming you read the directions carefully, which in my excitement I did not) and the unfinished wheel leaves so many avenues for personalizing your tools. The ash takes finish like a champ and the look is just marvelous. The one thing I was kind of taken aback by was that the wheel itself is particle board. I read the descriptions, yes, but it just didn't occur to me that that was what I was getting. Regardless, it took the finish wonderfully and the overall effect is both modern and rustic at the same time and I love it. Ten out of ten would recommend for a first wheel. You'll be able to get whatever you want to out of it,."
