"I had never herd of this sheep breed before and thought I'd try it. The wool is a nice gray color, which is the only positive thing I can say. It was advertised as a coarse wool, and oh is it ever! But the real drawback is the huge amount of kemp. These thick harsh white fibers overwhelmed the rest of the wool, and shed prolifically throughout the spinning, plying, washing, and skeining process. And there is still more to shed. . . This was NOT a pleasant fiber to spin. I wouldn't dare try to use it on my knitting machine, and even handknitted it will have limited options. I may try making a pair of socks and felting them a bit to control some of the shedding. . . I have had such wonderful experiences with other fiber purchases from the Woolery, I am sorry but I can't recommend this fiber."
"Very strong and stunning gradient of colors. It spins strong and mixes well with other kinds of roving. Super pretty stuff."
"Interesting fiber. Makes a yarn that’s a bit scratchy but I think it will be good for hats and mittens"
"This wool is exactly as described: grey, coarse, and on the short side. I am blending it 50/50 with Dorset wool on my new Ashford hand carders for a rug, and the blend is perfect! It's got some guard hair-like strands that tend to fall out a bit (very thick strands of wool! Very cool in my opinion), but that doesn't bother me. They get swept up easily, and it's only a few here and there. I love the character they add to the wool! Mine had a strong sheepy smell to it, but it faded when I washed my sampler. Definitely great in a blend to make handspinning easier, but I'm sure you can spin it on it's own."
"Just what I wanted"
"Well prepared. Meant to be a course wool. well described. Clean and spins well. Excellent for carpets and hours blankets."
"Did not care for this wool for hand spinning. Very coarse and short. I may not have understood the discription but will not buy this again."
