Felt pieces are cut using templates that are included with the pattern. The cut pieces are then placed and appliqued in place following the illustrated instructions. Decorative Stitches can be added if desired according to your taste. The pattern, which is included with the kit, provides detailed, illustrated instructions for various stitch types. The pattern also includes a full-color, illustrated layout design for each ornament. for those who want to challenge themselves, you can add your own personal touches with stitches and embellishments not listed on the pattern.

"Even though I haven't started this one yet, I've bought numerous other kits from Rachel's of Greenfield through The Woolery, so I know it will look exactly like it's supposed to and have all the necessary felt and threads. And the instructions are super easy to follow too!"
"I have just started making these ornaments - I followed the instructions and lightly glued all the gnome pieces onto the foundation shapes which has enabled me to attach all the pieces of one color on all four designs without numerous thread changes. However, there are a lot of small pieces - since I'll be making multiples I created a stencil for the hands, feet, noses etc - I transfer them to the felt using a Frixion pen which disappears when ironed. I'm having a lot of fun with these little guys!"
