Some consider fabric from Lotus fiber as one of the first natural microfibers. Fabrics woven from lotus fiber have the look and feel or a linen/silk blend are are breathable, soft, light weight and wrinkle resistant. The fiber is anaerobically biodegradable.
Derived from the lotus plant found in Myanmar and Cambodia, cellulosic lotus fiber has historically been used to weave Buddhist Monk robes as well as decorations for Buddha idols.
