Krokbragd Patterns

Authors: Debby Greenlaw

Debby Greenlaw creates a winning sequel to her popular book Krokbragd: How to Design & Weave Her newest offering, Krokbragd Patterns, remedies the void found when searching for published patterns and projects that feature this Scandinavian weaving technique.

While Debby’s first book explored the necessary skills and techniques for weaving the krokbragd structure, Krokbragd Patterns focuses on an extensive collection of individual motifs and borders, as well as full project designs. Each pattern can be completed as shown; however, comprehensive instruction provides for combining motifs, altering colors, and adding texture and embellishments to further enhance traditional krokbragd projects.

Keeping Debby’s straightforward style, weaving tips, detailed illustrations, and step-by-step photography fill Krokbragd Patterns. An innovative approach to presenting the weaving draft and instructions allows you to complete any of the 3-shaft patterns, whether weaving on a floor, table, or rigid-heddle loom.

Enlisting from around the world, 18 talented weavers wove many of the projects. In addition to the book’s drafts, instructions, photos, and suggested variations, these weavers bring their extraordinary insights and helpful advice for weaving the individual projects.

The delightful designs and beautiful projects within Krokbragd Patterns provide eons of weaving inspiration, but using Debby’s tips for individualizing, the design possibilities become endless!

Debby Greenlaw traded her suburban home for a farmhouse in the country; replaced her skirts and lab coat with T-shirt dresses and comfortable work shoes; and happily shovels goat poop at the crack of dawn rather than sitting in rush hour traffic.
Along with her best friend and husband Pete, Debby bought and subsequently restored a 14.5 acre farm in South Carolina. They share Green Pastures Farm with a cadre of dairy goats, chickens, a mini donkey, a barn cat, and a playful pup. Over the past decade, Debby has taught herself skills that were once common to her ancestors, from delivering baby animals to spinning fiber and weaving fabric. Debby shares the skills learned, adventures experienced, and insights gleaned through teaching, writing, and her blog Flora & Fiber. She is also the author of Krokbragd: How to Design and Weave.
