The 12th Fiber Gift of Christmas is here!

Bossa Nova Patterns We Love

We fell in love with Bossa Nova when it first arrived in our shop. It's soft, squishy, and has an amazing color palette of solids and variegated shades that coordinate so well with each other. We've put together 6 patterns we love (including an exclusive shawl pattern designed by Circulo for The Woolery!) AND done-for-you math to weave a scarf!

Patterns

1. Feline Shawl (Knit) - Woolery exclusive!

We are so excited to share this pattern the folks at Circulo designed just for us to share with our Fiber Flock!

Weaving with Bossa Nova? We've done the math for you!

Project Instructions - For a 12" wide scarf with 100" of warp.

Materials needed:

  • Rigid Heddle Loom - 12" or wider
  • 8 dent rigid heddle
  • 4 skeins of Bossa Nova (2 solid and 2 variegated) - Check out our color combos above! Just add 1 more variegated color along with your two solids.
  • Shuttle of choice

Details:

  • Total warp ends: 96 ends
  • Total warp length: 100"
  • Width in reed: ~12"
  • EPI (ends per inch): 8
  • PPI (picks per inch): 8
  • Weave structure: Plain balanced weave

Instructions:

  • Warp the full width in Bossa Nova using whatever method you prefer.
  • Weave your scarf to 80". Get creative! Combine those variegated shades and solids to make something uniquely you!
  • Remove the scarf from the loom, leaving about 6" of unwoven warp on either side for fringe. Twist bundles of 2 working ends together in each clip of the fringe twister, then let them twist together to create twisted bundles of 4 total ends. (or whichever finishing method you prefer).

We can't wait to see all your Bossa Nova creations!
