"This winder has some design issues. It's designed to be mounted on a table with square edges. Mine are mostly curved, which makes it less stable. There are no set screws for the horizontal rods so when you pull the "dead" (left) support, the rods pull out. This is not an issue with the Woolery and I've spoken with Louet (new owners of Schacht)."

"A bit hefty in price (Schacht's, not the Woolery's) but perfect for winding pirns and bobbins for multiple shuttle brands for those of us who don't want to be tied to an electrical outlet. The metal rods fit snuggly in the crank mechanism, but can work loose and pull out when adjusting for varying pirn lengths. Locking in place with glue is possible, but a set screw would be more secure. I recommend it and use it frequently."
"I'm still getting the hang of it, but it is much easier than trying to wind the bobbins by hand. It was very simple to put together. Eventually, I might get the conversion kit and try winding by lace bobbins with it as well."

"Terrible construction. The instructions said to hammer in the metal poles into the Pre-drilled holes. Well it didn’t work very well The medals do not go all the way in. And the top part of the rod where you’re hammering in didn’t fit into the second piece because you had to hammer on it and then it became a little out of shape. Now it’s all wobbly wish I could return it for my money back. And I would like to see a video of the maker trying to put it together to show how hard it is. The black lines on the rod show how far it’s supposed to go in to the pre-holes"

"This is a very good tool for the ability to wind bobbins of varying sizes, with varying holes. Once all is in place, it runs smoothly. However, I find that it can be tricky getting the bobbin to sit in just the right tension. There have been times when the spring clip that holds the tension has 'jumped' allowing loss of tension, an easy fix, but annoying. I do like the hand winding function as it allows for very good control over the whole process."
