"Bought it for my daughter-in-law and she absolutely loves it."
"I am fairly new to spinning. A guild member suggested I look to buy the combo of swift and yarn winder. Perfect combo and works great. I especially love the wooden swift. It is made very well and works perfectly as does the winder. I love that I can now make yarn balls that are easy to knit from!"
"I hadn't realized how much I needed this much sooner in my life. Great combo and easy to figure out."
"Both the swift and the winder are great, very easy to use when used in combination to wind yarn into a ball. But I've been a little disappointed when using the swift alone to wind yarn off of my niddy noddy, as the swift tends to collapse. It would be nice if there was a mechanism to lock it open, rather than simply being able to tighten the wooden clamp. As more yarn is applied, the wooden clamp often loosens, causing the swift to start collapsing/closing. Overall though I am satisfied."
"I love these simple machines."
"The yarn swift works well, but the yarn baller is, . . . . . a disappointment. The yarn guid will not stay locked in position and hast to be constantly held in place while winding a ball."
"I used to have to wait to wind till I went to a friend’s house. Now I can do it any time! I’m not enough of a spinner yet to invest in something fancy, so this is just right for me. There’s a bit of a learning curve: I set the ball winder up wrong at first (didn’t realize how to prop the metal guide upright, set it up at a bad angle to the swift. ) Maybe there are instruction videos but I just did trial and error. Also, I didn’t understand the tension that was needed so the yarn kept flopping around the base of the winder and binding its movement, but I didn’t notice it until I could hear the gears grinding. The shaft of the winder actually became dislodged from the smaller gears at its base so it stopped doing the secondary winding that distributes yarn over the ball. I thought it was probably broken for good, but a little more close looking and fiddling and I got it back in alignment. Also, the swift is very large and a bit heavy (takes a nudge to get it going) and tall, so it needs storage space. Sounds like a lot of complaining for the conclusion: I’m really happy with these tools! They are exactly what I need and now they work perfectly every time ."
"Tacky. Swift is perfect"
"this is a great combo that works well-I did need to watch some videos on youtube to get myself on the right track and up and running. Very happy when finally did."
