Ashford Drum Carder

This new, improved model has two ratios for even more flexibility and control when carding and blending:

  • Use the 6:1 ratio to prepare the fleece. The controlled intake and carding will produce a smooth even batt ready for blending, spinning or felting.
  • Use the 4:1 ratio to blend sliver, colors and different fiber types consistently into an open and airy batt.

The new carder retains the adjustable drum clearance - allows you to set the teeth distance for total control of your fiber . All nylon bearings ensure it is light and easy to turn. The card cloth has wire teeth with a special protective coating and a flexible rubber backing for long life. The carder is strong and robust with the body made from Silver Beech hardwood. The carder has rubber feet to prevent it slipping. Card 50g (2 oz) batt quickly and efficiently. Order the Ashford Drum Carder for sale today!

"So much nicer than my last carder! Easy to use"

Yeah, go ahead and get it.

"I am so happy I purchased this drum carder. My yarn output has increased dramatically. I'm able to blend up new batts lickety split. Also, it makes a rather soothing sound as you work the machine, and I'm not typically one for ASMR. Easy to assemble, easy to use. It's a sizable pieces of machinery, tho, so make sure you have space for it!"

I love my drum carder.

"I love my drum carder. Makes processing fiber faster than hand carders. It is easy to set up and use."

"This drum carder is a game-changer! I love my Ashford hand cards, which I have been using for a long time, and never thought I'd indulge in a drum carder, but I'm so glad I did! It is easy to use, and opens up so many more projects for me, from experimenting with wet felting to exploring new spinning and plying techniques and combinations. Love! :)"

Ashford 72 TPI is great!

"I have wanted a carder for a while. I purchased the 72 TPI. It works great for medium grade fibers, and some blending with fine fibers. Good for some art batts. The only feature I wish was different was the handle. the carder doesn’t sit high enough for the handle to clear a table, so it needs to be on the very edge. Other than that it is a quality carder, easy to clean. It came with the doffer and cleaning brush."

Baa Baa Black Sheep, Three Bags Full!

"I'm sooo happy with my new Ashford drum carder. The other brand drum carder I had borrowed from the Weaving and Spinning Guild had seen better days. I'd purchased moorit, graphite and espresso merino fleeces from a local ranch, and wondered how I could get through processing them all. It's going great. The wooden handle really makes a difference! Having two ratios to use works well for me. One ratio at the beginning when the wool is just teased, and the other to get a well combed consistent bat. The 120 tpi worked well on the alpaca as well. Thanks so much. Photo: Getting ready for my Ashford e-spinner to arrive!"
