Mulberry silk caps are made from cultivated cocoons degummed and stretched over a wood board shaped like a bell. They consist of a number of extremely thin layers; each layer is one cocoon.
Suitable for spinning or drawing into fine roving for either knitting or embroidery.
To spin from your cap, work from the center by making a hole and stretching the fibers with your hands far apart. After it is stretched, break it in where it is thinnest and draw the fiber out until it is manageable for you to spin.
Mulberry silk is also known as Bombyx silk. Produced by the worm of the Bombyx moth, their diet consist entirely of Mulberry leaves.
