What Customers Say

Rated 5 out of 5 — 4 verified reviews

With all the same quality Kromski craftsmanship of its larger counterparts, the Prelude offers a unique characteristic of compact portability to those who want a wheel reminiscent of the antique Saxony style but need the convenience of a small, transportable wheel for events like historical festivals and reenactments. With a diameter of 18", the Prelude is suited to perform in many different speeds/ratios.

The Prelude was the first single-drive-only wheel that the Kromski's produced and features Scotch Tension and a single treadle. The oblique bench links to a built-in lazy kate with a two bobbin capacity. Affordably priced and easy to assemble, the Prelude is a perfect beginners wheel but is occupied by components and attributes sufficient enough for a lifetime wheel.

My Pretty Little Prelude

"I love my little Kromsky! It took a minute for me to understand how to spin and treadle at the same time. Very comical. I was surprised at the smaller size of the Prelude but would definitely recommend this selection for a beginner. It is smooth and balanced plus so very beautiful. Thanks!"

Wonderful little wheel

"This is my first wheel, which is a gift from my husband. We bought the unfinished wheel so I could customize it, and I had fun using different stains to create a nice, bright wheel. It assembled super easily, and was easy to learn on; having only used a drop spindle beforehand. I recommend getting more hemp string as my scotch tension band broke a while back. I will need so see if I can replace it with just cotton. Its breaking-in period took a few months, but not I have gone quite some time without having to oil it, none of its parts squeaking now. Wheel is pretty quiet, having minimal natural chatter, and troubleshooting the wheel has been easy. There are many resources online, and even the Kromski company was very helpful when I did need to call their US branch with questions. Wheel is lightweight and easy to carry around and store in the car for when I travel to my fiber groups or simply to the park to spin. I recommend taking the main drive band off the flyer and turning the Mother of All to the side for transport. It can be a little top-heavy, so I do pad the ground around it at home in case one of my cats zoom through and knock it over."

I am in love with

"I am in love with my new wheel! It was easy enough to put together and well made. When I did have a question customer service was amazing! The sample yarn was a nice bonus. I was up and spinning within an hour."
