Hand Dyed Silk Caps

WOO-DDS

Availability:
1-3 Days

Silk cap are made from collecting degummed silk worm cocoons, and stretching them, one by one, over a bell-shaped frame. After drying, they retain this shape and are hand-dyed. Each cap contains a number of thin layers that is each itself a single cocoon. Silk has widely been used because of its durability and shimmery appearance. To spin, you pull one layer off, draft it until the desired thickness, then spin. If you're feeling more adventurous, you may also knit the stretched cap directly without spinning at all.
