What Customers Say

Rated 4.8 out of 5 — 6 verified reviews

This compact wheel is lightweight and portable with folding treadle, built-in lazy kate and carry handle. Fold and go – it can be carried easily in cars, as carry-on luggage in planes (check with your airline first as this varies from aircraft to aircraft) and takes up little space at home. Spin a variety of yarns using the four ratios.

The stretchy drive cord does not require any adjustment as you change from one ratio to another and always maintains the correct tension. The wheel and flyer are mounted on ball bearings for effortless spinning. Smooth and quiet with treadles mounted on polyurethane hinges to allow a comfortable heel-toe action. The wheel comes assembled and lacquered, ready for spinning.

Joy 2 Wheel - Like the 4 whorl sizes, ease of transporting

"This is my second Joy Wheel because my daughter has taken over my Joy 1 wheel. We love their convenience to just fold, pick up, and go. Overall I'm very happy with my Joy 2 Wheel! It spins beautifully and I use all 4 whorl sizes for various fibers and yarn constructions. But for me, I'm a bit frustrated with the new type of flyer that has the sliding yarn guides. I have hand and grip issues that make the guides very difficult for me to use. But still, I am happy with this wheel."

It really is a Joy!

"I LOVE this wheel! It really makes spinning fun. The action is so smooth and efficient, it makes me feel like a much better spinner than I was on the borrowed classic wheel I learned on. It’s so easy to fold up and store in its nice carrying backpack, I take it with me on overnight or weekend getaways. Or just get it out of the way for house cleaning. I have used the built-in Lazy Kate for plying, which makes it a self-contained system. The sales support from the Woolery is excellent - prompt responses to questions, great expertise and lots of information on the website!"

Couldn't be happier

"I was nervous leaping back into spinning since I had to learn in high school and I was TERRIBLE at it, I learned on a louet s10 and I was a little traumatized by it (I hear that they're fabulous wheels!) I don't usually buy myself anything too costly so of course I was very anxious about investing in a new wheel. I am so glad that I chose the Joy 2! It's so easy to transport or just put away, I can sit and face whatever direction I want with the single treadle (I was reclining with one leg up on the couch earlier and comfortably spinning). I honestly have been wanting to do nothing but spin recently, I've had a hard time getting any of my work done. The built in Lazy Kate leaves just a little bit to be desired only in the angle that you end up plying from, but I don't think I'd trade this in for any other castle style wheel. I also love the gothic cathedral style arch the wheel has to it so while it may not be what people think of when they imagine a spinning wheel it still has a very nice, stylish look to it. I feel a little goofy having the wheel fold up into a back pack but it works to easily transport. Overall I have been very pleased with this spinning wheel to the point where not only do I feel as though this wheel is perfectly worth the price but I completely forgot how much I ended up spending on it, after all that anxiety."

Aptly Named; A Joy to Spin With

"I've only had it for just over a week, but I've already spun several skeins of yarn and it is an absolute delight to work with. It's small enough to fit in a carrying case (and I LOVE the case it came with--it has straps like a backpack!) and the base is steady enough that I can spin on the thick carpet in my living room. It requires very minimal assembly and it spins like a dream. I love the built-in lazy kate as well! I would recommend this wheel to anyone, from beginner to experienced spinner. It's fantastic."
