Author: Lisanne Miller

Let’s get ready to dye some wool! Explore these pages to learn from master dyer Lisanne Miller as she explains her quick and easy approach to the magic of beautiful wool. Learn how to set up a dyeing station, how to choose the proper dyes and techniques to produce gorgeous wool for your rug hooking projects. Lisanne guides us through the oh-so-easy “dump and go” dyeing; she shows us how to marbleize wool; her instructions on how to dip dye—both single and double color—will open all kinds of possibilities for unique one-of-a-kind wool. And, best of all, Lisanne provides more than 70 dye recipes, including the elusive Imari color recipes from Joan Moshimer.

Lisanne Miller first held a hook at the age of fourteen as part of the Bicentennial Celebration of America, hooking a simple chair pad from some of her mother’s old wool suits. Since then she has never looked back or put her hook down and is now known for creating and designing whimsical, wonderful pieces of modern-day folk art. Today Lisanne is owner of W. Cushing & Co. She is also the director of Caraway Rug School.
