AUTO REED HOOK: this sley hook makes threading your reed easy, fast and fun (yes, fun). It works most easily from right to left but can be used from left to right. Slip the end through a dent, bring the handle all the way up to the reed. When you do this a clip on the left side goes through the next dent to the left. Position your warp on the hook and pull back on the handle. This step will thread the first dent and position the tool properly in the next dent so you can repeat the process. You will have to look closely to see just how this works but from a distance your weaving friends will think it is magic. With just a few minutes of practice you will thread your next reed in record time. No weaver should be without this time-saving tool. And that bend on the end of the hook - that allows you to let go of the hook and let it hang as you go about your work.

SCH-101 - $55

Ballwinder

Heavy Duty Ball Winder
(Electronic yarn meter not included)

Made of Maple hardwood, steel shafts, and commercial grade, heavy duty Swiss gears. Will wind balls up to 1 Lb. and greater. The yarn guide arm can be swiveled 180 degrees to allow for 5 different angles at which the yarn supply can be positioned relative to the ball winder. Includes a yarn tensioner which can provide

An optional motor drive add-on kit (Power Base™) is now available. This unit is a high tech motor drive option for the standard ball winder. It has a variable speed control, reverse, slow and fast speeds, an auto-slip belt drive, and allows the user to also use an optional foot pedal for hands free operation, and auto shut-off when used with the Electronic Yarn Meter™.

Includes 2 heavy duty table clamps (5/16" L-bolts). These allow for mounting to table thicknesses of up to 2.5". Our clamping systems are preferred by most fiber artists. 1 year limited warranty for both consumer and commercial use (see warranty terms for details). Designed and manufactured in the USA.

NAN-HDBW - Heavy Duty Ball Winder - $199

Motorized Ball Winder Upgrade-Commercial Grade (LEFT)

A motorized Power Base unit that motorizes the Heavy Duty Ball Winder . Like the ball winder itself, this is a commercial grade motor unit. The unit incorporates some very high end features not previously available on any electric ball winder. Speed Range - approx. 200 to 800 RPM (based on balls measuring 2" to 7" in diameter). Yarn winding rate goes from 0.6 yds. to 5.5 yds. per second. Average winding rate is approx. 3.1 yards per second. Winding rate depends on both the speed and amount of yarn on spindle - the more yarn on the spindle the faster the winding rate is per second.

Motorized Ball Winder Upgrade-Commercial Grade-Lite (RIGHT)

Instead of a membrane switch panel, the user has a rotary speed control. This is an analog control whereas the membrane switch is digital on the standard Power Base. The Lite version does not include a reverse direction function or foot pedal interface. Nor can it be directly connected to the Electronic Yarn Meter. However, this does not mean that the user cannot use it with the new Electronic Yarn Meter, it just means that the Meter cannot automatically turn off the Power Base.

The Lite version uses a 500 RPM motor.

NAN-PB - Motorized Ball Winder Upgrade - Commercial Grade - $330

NAN-PBL - Motorized Ball Winder/Lite - Commercial Grade - $250

NEW!-Electronic Yarn Meter™

This is a commercial grade measurement tool capable of measuring the length of virtually any yarn at an extremely accurate rate. It is designed to be used with any ball winder or other tool capable of pulling yarn through the meter. You may even measure yarn by pulling it through by hand if so desired. We know of no limitations to its use other than the maximum diameter of yarn being measured should be less than 5/16". Ribbon yarn may be measured through the EYM.

This unit will work with any ball winder or other device that can pull yarn through it (even your hand!). But only thePower Base (shown above) will accept a connection from this meter and allow the meter to shut the Power Base off.

In addition to the height and depth adjustments, the user can even rotate the EYM Module around the vertical 1" hardwood dowel giving the user a 3rd axis with which to make adjustments in the yarn path.

Measures Yarn in both Yards and Meters. It will also allow you to convert length to weight so that you can measure out 1 ounce or 1 Lb.

1 year limited warranty for both consumer and commercial users
The unit is available in 3 sizes. These sizes relate to the height adjustability and the table depth adjustment:

LECLERC COUNTER: use to measure your yardage for weaving, spinning or knitting. For warping with a sectional beam, place the counter on the tension box to measure the yardage of your warp; one revolution equals 1/10 yd (up to 999.9 yards). Also useful when filling bobbins for warping (the thread coming from the bobbin rack is threaded through the tension box before being wound onto the bobbins; this avoids wasting thread.) Support and pulley are made of maple.
