They are firm nubs of wool you can use to add texture to your spun yarn, felting projects, or textile work. They can be dyed using the procion dyes. Felting and other softening techniques before blending can possibly produce better results depending on your project.

Note that some of the pencil roving (no more than a few inches usually) may be slightly discolored; this is due to the use of a water soluble carding oil during processing and it will wash off once you wash the yarn or the garment.
